With the establishment of the CEBU HEART INSTITUTE in February 1994, PERPETUAL SUCCOUR HOSPITAL has pioneered significant medical advances in education and service. It has become the first hospital outside of Metro Manila with state of the art diagnostic and interventional facilities in Non-invasive Diagnostic procedures. Today, it is acknowledged as a leader in Surgical Heart procedures and Vascular Studies, being the first again, outside of Metro Manila to have performed the Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery in 1994, by a team of cardiovascular surgeons-Dr. Florante Lomibao, Dr. Jaime Nuevo, Dr. Monico Perez, Dr. Romarico Suarez, and Dr. Florian Nuevo; and to have acquired the latest technology (Medasonics) to do Vascular Studies.
The Cebu Heart Institute, Services, & Treatment, Incorporated, or CHRISTI FOUNDATION, which was organized by the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres, the Cardiologists of PSH, and other concerned individuals - Patrons and Sponsors, with His Eminence Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal, as the Honorary Chairman, is subsidizing the annual open-heart surgeries of indigent patients, in cooperation with PERPETUAL SUCOUR HOSPITAL.
In the dawn of the new millennium, waves of innovations swept PERPETUAL SUCCOUR HOSPITAL to unprecedented heights.
On March 19, 2001, the ground breaking of the SPC Medical Arts building took place in the lot adjacent to the Cebu Heart Institute that the administration had recently purchased. This 7-storey building will house the Cebu Cancer Institute, the Advanced Care Rehab, the Eye Center and Doctors Clinics.
The PERPETUAL SUCCOUR HOSPITAL, CEBU CANCER INSTITUTE, is an holistic, state of the art and cutting edge health care facility, with an utmost concern that quality care is delivered with sensitivity. This is competitiveness on a global scale.
The Radiation Therapy equipment of PSH, is a package of the following: Linear Accelerator with multi leaf collimator, Simulator, Treatment Planning System, and Stereotatic Body Frame; Brachytherapy HDR after Loading System, Quality Assurance and Mould Room equipment. The system will be upgraded in the future to the following: Intra-cranial Stereotatic Radiography, Intra-cranial Stereotatic Radiosurgery.
Besides, employing modern technology through Radiation Therapy, the Cebu Cancer Institute will also advocate Chemotherapy treatment. A pain Clinic and Hospice Care will be provided as added services. To top all of these, psychological, emotional and spiritual supports are being organized through the Pastoral Care Services that will provide venues for counseling, prayer and healing sessions among others, to help the patients and their families cope and live with this deadly disease.

With ten (10) beds, equipped with invasive Monitoring System with Central Monitors; piped-in gases and suction; one on one staffing. The facilities are the following: Dressing Room for Consultants and Staff; Conference Room; lounge for relatives; nurses’ station, E Cart; defibrillator, ambu bags, volume respirators, syringe pumps and Emergency cart with the “E” drugs, IV fluids, plasma expanders, etc.
PEDIATRIC ICU
With Five (5) beds equipped with monitors with invasive monitoring system; piped in gases and suction; defibrillator; pediatric volume respirator, ambu bags, Emergency cart with “E” drugs, etc.; with a dressing room, nurses station and lounge for doctors and personnel.
SURGICAL ICU
With four (4) beds, equipped with Invasive Cardiac Monitors, Defibrillator with external paddle; piped in gases and suction; ventilator; Emergency Cart with “E” drugs.
KIDNEY SERVICE
The 11 Hemodialysis machines, one for Hepa positive; Central Reverse Osmosis; Cardiac Monitors; Emergency Cart; Suction apparatus; water pressure pump; dialyzer re-processor and bicarbonate generation equipment, providing life-sustaining treatment to many out-patients and in-patients from the different parts of the Visayas and Mindanao. In April 1986, the first Kidney Transplant outside of Metro Manila, was performed in PERPETUAL SUCCOUR HOSPITAL, led by a team of specialists who are active consultants in the Hospital, namely, Dr. Alan Simporios, Dr. Ruben Maguad, Dr. Uriel Baclayon, Dr. Bonifacio Cabahug,& Dr. Harris Roska.
PULMONARY
The following are the services offered in the Pulmonary Department:Incentive Spirometry and Pulmonary Function Test; Volume respirator adult and pedia; pressure ventilators, nebulizers & aerosol therapy; IPPB; pulse oximeter; thorasic pump
REHABILITATION MEDICINE & PHYSICAL THERAPY
The following are the services offered:
a. Physical Therapy – ultrasound machines, electrical stimulators, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulators continuous passive motion unit; hydrocollator packs; cervical and lumbar tractions; infra red and ultraviolet lamps tilt table; paraffin unit; clinical restorator
b. Occupational Therapy - Minnesota Manual Dexterity Test (with 68 pegs), wrist roll, Minnesota Spatial relations test ( MSRT), Minnesota rate of Manipulation test ( MSRT), bilateral sander, ply tic tac toe, ( with 9 pegs ), depth percetion pegboard set, form board, pegboards with round pegs, ADL Boards ( dressing and household tools), Pronation-supiration board, prehersion blocks, RGR Tree and clothespin tree with 16 clothespin.
AMENITIES
PGI’s are provided with air conditioned quarters with receiving room, toilet and bath, study table, refrigerator, telephone with cable TV.
The hospital has a canteen and a coffee shop.

PGI’s - goes on 24hrs. duty are given three (3) free meals. Those who are not on duty are given free lunch.
